Unleashing Potential: Youth Empowerment Through Cocurricular Activities.

Young people are catalysts of social and economic transformation. Yet too many face unemployment, limited access to finance, and few opportunities to learn practical skills. VICEF’s Youth Empowerment Program equips young women and men with leadership capabilities, entrepreneurial skills, and mentorship to convert their ideas into income and impact. Approach: We facilitate hands-on workshops in leadership, business planning, bookkeeping, digital literacy, and market analysis. Participants access mentorship circles, pitch practice, and networking opportunities with local entrepreneurs and diaspora professionals. Where possible, we link graduates to micro-grants, savings groups, and responsible lenders. Our model emphasizes ethical entrepreneurship and community service. Impact to date: 100+ youth have been trained in leadership and entrepreneurship, with active mentorship in Cameroon, Nigeria, and Italy. Alumni are starting micro-enterprises, forming cooperatives, and volunteering as peer mentors, creating a virtuous cycle of opportunity. Future plans: Expand training hubs in secondary cities, launch an online learning portal, and strengthen post-training support through alumni networks and seed funding partnerships.

Cocurricular activities, such as music, film, craft, and other creative pursuits, empower young people by enhancing problem-solving, critical thinking, teamwork, and communication skills. These activities also provide a platform for self-expression and encourage personal growth. They foster imagination and help youth develop their artistic talents and provide pathways for future careers and entrepreneurial pursuits.
