Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women worldwide. Early detection, accurate information, and psychosocial support save lives. VICEF’s program raises awareness, facilitates early screening, and walks alongside survivors and their families. Approach: We organize community talks, media campaigns, and free clinical breast examinations in collaboration with certified health professionals. We distribute culturally appropriate educational materials, navigate referrals for diagnostic services, and provide counseling and survivor support groups. Our teams advocate for equitable access to screening and treatment, especially for low-income and rural women. Impact to date: 500+ women screened and awareness campaigns conducted across five regions of Cameroon. Feedback from beneficiaries underscores the power of early detection, many seeking care sooner and encouraging peers to do the same. Future plans: Strengthen cross-border referral networks, expand training for community health volunteers, and pilot mobile mammography days where feasible.
